RWBY – Gift Giving; Weiss Chapter

With the recent success of their team's fifth mission before the coming holiday break, Weiss and Yang had again been called up to help with the preparations for the Party that was going to be held on the last day of the semester.

However, Team ZNDS, with whom, Weiss's steady boyfriend Dan was deployed with, hadn't made a return yet from their seventh mission. Weiss couldn't help but get worried that she'd miss him before they went away for the break.

The gently falling snow had started its descent early today. With the remainder of classes over, it was time for Yang, Weiss and Team CFVY to polish the ballroom, making sure everything was perfect for the following night.

While they were all hard at work, Yang noticed her teammate's glum mood, which was saying something, since it was her idea to volunteer to help the preparations for the party.

“So, Weiss, what's the matter? You seem more down than usual...” Yang stated with obvious concern for her teammate in her voice.

Weiss was sitting at a table, staring sadly at the doily that she'd been trying, and failing, to place perfectly. Once Yang's voice reached her, she planted her head into the table, releasing a gigantic sigh in the process. Team CFVY jumped at the loud thunk that echoed in the empty ballroom before they all looked at Weiss. Velvet was obviously concerned as well, so she nodded to her team and went over to comfort her friend.

Weiss spoke without looking up, “I'm worried about Dan... He was supposed to finish his mission three days ago at the latest... There hasn't been any word from his leader, or their leading Hunstman on the situation there. I'm especially worried that he won't be here so... all of the preparations... they'll just be wasted.”

Yang's heart sank, Weiss was right. Yang was concerned about Nero, who was also on Dan's team. Both girls had wanted to have a special event before parting ways with the boys for the break, but if they didn't return, or even give word on the situation, then that could mean that they'd never come back, or worse, they were gone forever. Yang was already on a mission to find her own mother. She didn't want to have another search on her hands. It could be too much for her.

Yang put a hand on Weiss's shoulder. Weiss looked up at her and Yang smiled. “Relax, Weiss. They're gonna be here, I'm sure of it. Besides, if they were in a situation, Professor Ozpin would have sent another team after them. They're gonna be fine.”

Velvet chimed in, with her English accent, “Yeah, you never know, they could be on their way back right now.”

Both Weiss and Yang's spirits were lifted as the brown-haired rabbit-type faunus cheered them up. Velvet nodded with a smile, “So, let's make sure everything's ready for when they arrive, hm?”

Both girls spoke at the same time, “You got it!”

Meanwhile, on the airship, the four boys in question, team ZNDS, were exchanging dialogue. They were also holding mugs with steaming liquids inside.

“You think the girls were worried about us?” Dan asked aloud. It had been an issue that he was pondering for a while.

Sapphyra shrugged. “I'm sure they've probably got their hands full with their own mission. They might even be out still.”

Dan sighed and lowered his head. “Dang it... I was hoping to spend some time before we'd have the next break, you know?'

Nero nodded, “As do I. It would have been something if were were able to spend the last of our time with them.” He smirked and turned up his cup to his lips.

Zell was unusually silent. He would have made a sarcastic anecdote or something by now, but instead he just sipped the warm liquid from the cup silently. Their Hunstman, the one who called them for the assignment, was once again their old headmaster, Michibotsu, and he noticed Zell's gloomy silence.

Zell had given the excuse that he was just upset about how the mission's success had gone, which was a very convincing lie, however it wasn't the main reason why he was so gloomy and distant. Michibotsu knew it was something else entirely, and it just happened to tie into another thing that reminded Zell of his own status; his whole team had steady girlfriends, and it was like he didn't stand a chance, or just didn't matter to anyone, in that manner at the least.

“I'll notify the professor of our success, you guys just enjoy the rest of the flight.” Zell stated dully and followed Michibotsu to the front of the airship.

Back at Beacon, Glynda was assisting Ozpin, per the norm, when the message was delivered.

“Professor, Team ZNDS has finally completed their four missions and are heading back home.”

Ozpin nodded and started to smile a little. “That's very good to hear. I was hoping that it would be too much for them.” He looked at Glynda, “Would you mind giving the news to Weiss, Yang, and Nora?”

Glynda nodded and pushed her glasses up to her face. “Of course, sir. I'll be back momentarily.”

In the ballroom, Weiss and Yang were finishing up at the concession tables when Glynda entered. “Girls, I have some news to tell to you.”

Weiss and Yang stopped what they were doing, which was hanging some small reefs on the front of the tables,  and they looked at Glynda expectantly. “Yes, professor?” They replied at the same time.

“I know you've been worried about the boys for a while, but you don't have to anymore. Okay? They've completed their mission and they're heading back this way soon.”

Weiss and Yang were obviously happy to hear that, even if they tried to hide it from CFVY, who was looking on from a distance. Coco approached the girls after the news and said, “We're done with the preparations, so you two can go now. Thanks for the help, by the way.”

The girls replied, “It's no trouble Coco, see you later!”

The airship that was to bring ZNDS back to Beacon was approaching steadily, and Zell was looking on from the opened hatch. “Well, guys, we're back.” He stated dully and looked at his teammates.

The three other boys came to the hatch and high fived each other. “Another set of missions under our belt. Hehehehe.” Sapphyra smirked.

Zell nodded. “Yep. Well, lets get moving guys...” He closed the hatch and let the pilot land the airship.

Dan, Nero and Sapphyra exited the airship first, being greeted by Weiss, Yang and Nora respectively.

Michibotsu looked at Zell, who was still lying on the seat, staring blankly at the ceiling. “Are you doing okay?”

“Yes, sir. I'm fine, I just want to see my grandmother again. I can't wait for the break to start.” He chuckled and headed out. “Thanks for taking us on the mission, sir.”

Michibotsu nodded to the young man and put a hand on his shoulder, looking into shi somewhat troubled eyes. “You are my most trusted unit, even now. I know Ozpin will do you all very well. Keep working hard and always give everything you've got.”

Zell nodded and finally exited the airship with a small leap. He easily and silently made his way past the pairs and went straight to Ozpin's Study. He could hear the light giggling and chuckling from the girls and the guys respectively.

The next day, the last dance of the semester, as the couples were entering the ballroom, there was an expertly placed mistletoe on the door. Zell was walking ahead of Weiss and Dan, and he noticed it. He smirked and stopped walking before the mistletoe and pointed up at it.

“Looks like you two are going to have a great time at this party.”

Weiss looked up. “Huh? ...Oh...” She blushed and looked up to Dan.

Dan raised a brow, “What? What does that mean?”

Weiss explain slowly, “...Well, when under a mistletoe... with another person... the two of them... Have to... well... kiss...” It was obvious that she was flustered at the thought. She fidgeted with her hair and lightly tapped her shoes' front on the floor.

Zell looked back, giving a distanced look at the couple before he shook his head and walked into the ballroom with his hands in his pockets.

Dan blinked and closed his eyes. His hand that was holding hers was squeezed by her, getting his attention again. He hadn't noticed the height difference between them until just now. He looked down and leaned a little so that she could reach him. He chuckled weakly as he came into her reach.

“...Close your eyes...” Weiss stated softly.

Dan hesitantly closed his eyes and waited. A long three seconds passes before Weiss brought herself to use her tip toes to kiss his lips. Their kiss wasn't quick, it was slow and deliberate, using their contact to tell one another how they actually felt.

Weiss felt her cheeks burn and she looked down. “D-Don't tell anyone about that okay...?”

Dan tilted his head, “Well, why can't I?”

She looked up at him with a stern face. Her face was still tinted pink, so it was a little difficult to take her seriously. “...That was just a practice kiss... It... was my first one...” Although she had her usual confident tone at the beginning of her statement, she looked into Dan's eyes, his excellent electric blue eyes and slowly got quieter.

“Don't worry about it, snow angel.” Dan waved off her nervous comment, in an attempt to hide his own. “...It was my first kiss too.”

Weiss looked up at him, “R-really? You can't be serious...”

Dan looked down at her, he raised his brow again. “What makes you say that?”

Weiss shook her head. “Um, nothing... Let's go inside before we start holding everyone up...”

Dan nodded and led her inside, hie arm rested on her petite waist.

The night went by quickly, everyone got a dance, or five, in. Dan and Weiss danced together for all of the songs that played. They even laughed and chatted during the intermission for dinner.

While everyone was having a great time, Dan's leader and friend, Zell was in a far off corner, standing on the wall during dances, and sitting alone during dinner. Sometime during the fourth dance,  he decided it was time for him to make his exit, and eventually disappeared.

Once the dance was over, all of the students separated and went back to their dorms, well all of them except a few couples.

Dan and Weiss were one of the last pairs to leave, the other couple being Yang and Nero, who were still slow dancing. Dan and Weiss looked back at their teammates before leaving the ballroom hand in hand. Dan walked Weiss outside as the snow fell gently. They walked over to a bench that was near the Beacon Statue.

Dan sat on the bench and Weiss sat beside him, on the cool metal frame that was serving as the arm rest. She shivered a little before Dan wrapped his arm around her waist. Upon feeling his arm, Weiss blushed and looked at him.

“You know... my lap, might a warmer than the armrest.”

Weiss rolled her eyes and folded her arms, “Of course it's going to be warmer. We just finished dancing for several hours!”

Dan chuckled and used his strength to lift Weiss's small frame and set her down on his lap. Her face burned once again and so did Dan's, luckily they didn't look each other in the eyes immediately. A small amount of time passed before they made eye contact once again.

Weiss stared at him, and Dan stared at her. Icy blue met and mingled with electric blue for a time. They did speak at all in the next moments. Weiss simply and slowly placed a hand on Dan's chest, and he wrapped his arms around her waist. Their bodies heated up at each others touch, then Weiss leaned forward, toward Dan and he instinctively followed suit.

Weiss's heart picked up speed and pounded against her chest like a machine gun to a reinforced steel wall. She felt his breath as they closed the distance from one another. Once more, the couple began to blush, but they continued their approach to one another, until finally their lips met in another kiss. This one was much better than the first, even if the first one was great to the both of them.

Their lips mingled with one another and synched easily. The kiss warmed Weiss, and almost made Dan sweat. Their passion was so intense that Weiss could feel sparks, and the snow around them seemed to stand still for a time. Eventually, Weiss broke the kiss for the sake of catching her breath. She didn't want to let him go, but she needed to. Their lips slowly peeled from one another's before the couple slowly opened their eyes to gaze at each other.

Weiss smiled softly and rested her head on Dan's chest. He cradled her with his arms, giving her a gentle, yet very warm hug. Weiss listened to Dan's heart beat like a drum line before she gave a satisfied sigh. Tonight, this night that she had worked so hard for, was certainly worthwhile.

But on a serious note, this story blew my damn mind. I knew you said you were working on it, but...like wow, this really has made my day. I can really feel the love and passion between Dan and Weiss and imagining it so vividly in my head. I haven't felt such a warm feeling since I watched this one anime romance i saw months ago, so I'm glad I was able to read this. I also love how Yang and weiss were going all out to make this party the best before the holidays start up :D
I expect no less from a great writer like you Z. Story depth as well as explanation is spot on and you really did set the stage! And the characters emotions are just so spot on! I'd fave this a thousand times over if i could :(
